Your Katy Optometrist

Dr. Julie Yi is a native Houstonian. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in 2005. During her optometric studies, she completed her externships at a private practice in Nashvile, TN, and at an air force base in San Antonio. There she gained valuable experiences in treating ocular diseases as well as fitting different types of contact lenses.

Dr. Yi is a therapeutic optometrist and a glaucoma specialist. She practices full scope of optometry, such as treating various eyes diseases and working with specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Yi has participated in medical mission trips to Mexico and various mission trips to southeast asia. She is an active participant in her local church community serving as a town leader in youth ministry. Dr. Yi decided to become an optometrist after a visit to her own optometrist. She hopes that one day she can also be a positive influence to someone who may desire to join this great profession.

When not working, Dr. Yi enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. She is very excited to be part of this new community in Katy and hopes that we will be able to grow together as a family.

Dr. Doris Chao graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2002, and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.  She completed her internships at Ft Carson in Colorado Springs, and with Dr. Charles Garcia, MD, renown retina specialist.  Dr Chao owned her own practice in Dallas before coming back to Houston to start Eye Logic Eyecare.  In those years, besides seeing patients in a private practice setting, she has also gone on two international vision mission trips with OneSight to Panama and Romania where they provided examinations and eyeglasses to upwards of 25,000 people per trip.  She has also participated in communities projects helping provide eye examinations and glasses to underprivileged students. 

Besides work, Dr. Chao is active in her church, and enjoys spinning.  Her greatest joys are her family; her husband Sean, who is an attorney, and her two children, Jackson and Kennedy.  Jackson is extremely active in basketball, participating in AAU leagues, and also triathlons.  Kennedy is an eternal optimist and is the apple of her parents’ eye. 

Dr. Chao is excited for Eye Logic Eyecare and the services that they can provide to community, and look forward to working in Katy!
